When it comes to storing your valuables, or important documents, nothing quite beats a safe for security. Simply close and lock the safe as normal and your items are safe behind strengthened steel walls.

When it comes to storing your valuables, or important documents, nothing quite beats a safe for security. Simply close and lock the safe as normal and your items are safe behind strengthened steel walls.

All of which is great, unless you forget the combination or lose the key, or the batteries run out on a digital safe. Depending on the type of safe you have, there are few things that you might want to try.

If these simple tricks do not work, or you have a more complex safe, you will need to call in your Long Island locksmith to help you crack the safe with minimal damage.

Basic Hotel Type Safe

These look pretty secure, but they are often fairly easy to break into. Start by trying to bang the top of the safe, directly above the dial, once firmly and then turn the handle. This might open the lock quickly and easily with minimal damage.

If the safe is not bolted to the wall, get yourself a skewer or other long piece of wood that can be inserted into the bolt holes in the back. Most of these kinds of safes have a reset switch located near the hinges of the door, on the inside. See if you can find and click this button using the skewer.

All you then need to do is to choose a new combination and you are back in.

What if The Safe’s Battery is Dead?

It’s for times like this that your digital safe has a key. If the key is not working, or you cannot find it for some reason, you will need to manually pick the lock or break the safe open.

When You Want to Get a Professional Safe Locksmith

If the above two tricks do not work, and you do not have access to a key, you have two choices – crack the safe manually or use brute force to open it.  If not sure, a professional safe locksmith long island can help.

The former option is better because it results in less damage to the safe overall. For the person at home, however, it can be problematic because you will require special tools, such as a lockpick and the expertise to use them.

You might feel that you want to save the money on the locksmith Long Island and jimmy the lock. This will work if you have a fairly flimsy safe and will entail removing the front code panel and then accessing the locking mechanism and popping the lock out.

This could be effective but be willing to fork out the cash for a new safe.

When you want to effect entry to your safe, with minimal fuss and the least possible amount of damage, calling in a professional company like Top Lock is your best option. There is a cost involved but, when weighed against the cost of a new safe, this is minimal.

And, also, there are times when you could spend hours trying to break open the safe, only to have it badly damaged and still not open. Cracking a safe is pretty easy for someone that knows what they are doing.

It’s not that easy for the amateur though.

There’s nothing quite like the sinking feeling of knowing you locked the keys in the car, especially when you have a lot of things to do. Don’t feel alone, it’s something that we have seen a lot as a Long Island Locksmith .

Still, it shouldn’t be a problem, should it? You see it in movies all the time, it takes a pro just a few minutes to unlock the door and drive off with the car, even when they have to hot wire it. And, in real life, it is also that simple - if you know how to break into a car or are willing to smash a window.

How hard can it be? You just need to get something into the car and jiggle open the lock. In theory, all you need is some wire that is pliable enough to snake through the window and catch the lock. In practice, it’s actually easier to try and open the door a little and work the lock from the side.

Either way, you risk damaging the locking mechanism or scratching the car up. That is why it is best to either get someone to bring the spare keys or call in a car key locksmith long island . Leave breaking into your car to the professionals, they can do it faster and a lot more efficiently.

It’s not so much the stuff that they steal – that can be replaced – but more that they have rifled through your private things. It’s a scary experience, even if you were away from home at the time. And, if you are at home when they break in, the situation can escalate pretty quickly.

But how do you protect yourself? How do you make sure that you and your family stay safe?
